NFL Gambling Lines: Chiefs Remain Among Super Bowl Favorites

Despite a tumultuous few weeks, the Kansas City Chiefs remain among the favorites to win Super Bowl 53 on the NFL gambling lines. On the latest Super Bowl 53 odds, the Chiefs sit third at +550 along with the New England Patriots. That puts them behind the favored Los Angeles Rams at +300 and the New Orleans Saints at +330.

Since Week 11, it’s been a bit of a rough ride for the Chiefs. In Week 11, they dropped a shootout to the Rams, suffering their second loss of the season. A few weeks later, the Kareem Hunt video scandal broke and the talented running back was released. This left Spencer Ware to pick up the slack in the running game. The first game without Hunt was a 40-33 win over the Oakland Raiders. Kansas City was a 14-point road favorite in the game though, and it likely should have been a blowout win over the 2-10 Raiders.

Even with a 10-2 record, there’s no guarantee the Chiefs will even win the AFC West title, let alone the Super Bowl. The Chiefs are only one game up on the Chargers in the division. Moreover, they face three teams currently occupying playoff spots in their next three games. Those games are against the Baltimore Ravens, the Chargers, and the Seattle Seahawks. There’s also the fact the Chiefs’ two losses have come against Los Angeles and New England. These are two teams they may have to get through to win a Super Bowl title.

NFL Gambling Lines: Bears, Steelers Drop on Super Bowl 53 Odds

While the Chiefs remain steady on the Super Bowl 53 odds list, two teams that have faced a drop this week include the Chicago Bears and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Bears fell to +1800 from +1400 on the NFL gambling lines. This followed their upset loss to the New York Giants. They were once again without starting quarterback Mitch Trubisky. He may also be sidelined again this week when the Bears face the Rams on Monday night. The Bears have a strong hold on top spot in the NFC North. However, if they continue to drop games without Trubisky, their upcoming Week 17 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings could have a lot more riding on it.

The Steelers went from +1000 to +1600 on those NFL gambling odds this week. This was on account of them falling to the Los Angeles Chargers. They received more bad news this week. Running back James Conner will miss some time with an ankle injury. Conner was starting in place of the absent Le’Veon Bell, which leaves the Pittsburgh running game in the hands of Stevan Ridley and rookie Jaylen Samuels.

Pittsburgh has a cupcake matchup this week against the Oakland Raiders, so Conner may not be missed that much. However, the Steelers have lost two in a row and at 7-4-1 have the Baltimore Ravens breathing down their necks in the AFC North. They also have two tough matchups after Oakland with New England and a road game in New Orleans. If Conner is out for more than one week, and the Steelers’ struggles continue against the Patriots and Saints, their slide down the Super Bowl 53 futures could continue.
