NFL Wild Card Gambling Preview – Eagles at Bears

If you are looking for a convincing NFL Wild Card gambling trend involving the Chicago Bears Sunday, don’t expect to find anything recent.

Sunday’s second Wild Card matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles is the first time the Bears will play in a Wild Card game since the 1994 season. Regardless, they opened as a 6-point home favorite against the defending Super Bowl champions.

For their part, the Eagles have lost three straight Wild Card games since beating the Vikings in 2009.

The Eagles snuck into the playoffs by winning their last three games while going 2-0-1 against the spread. You have to wonder if salvaging a playoff berth was the culmination of their erratic season or if it’s the start of another magical run.

Will the Eagles cover the Wild Card game spread?

Philly played up the underdog role last playoffs and they have historically thrived in this situation. Since 2002, the Eagles are 8-1 ATS as a playoff underdog.

However, the Eagles are 3-8 SU and 5-6 ATS in their last 11 playoff road games. Chicago has some injury problems and a young QB so laying six points at home against the defending champs could a problem.

The Eagles have won and covered 3 straight vs the Bears, but that was mainly during the dark years when Chicago was struggling.

Will the Bears cover the Wild Card gambling spread?

The Bears were arguably one of the biggest surprises this season, starting the season as 100-1 underdogs. Not many people had them even contending for a playoff spot let alone winning the NFC North.

Chicago enters the postseason 9-1 SU and ATS in their last 10 and at home they’re 8-1 SU and ATS in their last nine. When favored the Bears are a stellar 11-2 SU and 10-3 ATS in their last 13. This year alone they were favored at home six times and covered every time.

NFL Wild Card Gambling Pick

Philly won three straight to finish the season with Nick Foles at the controls. They beat the Rams at LA, rallied past a tough Texans team at home and curb-stomped the Redskins. They are getting some injured starters back and could be a good moneyline bet here. It feels like free money at +6. Check out the NFL gambling odds here for updates closer to game time.
