NFL Week 5 Betting Preview: Odds, Trends, and Top Matchups Analysis

The favorites bounced back slightly in Week 4 of the NFL season, but it still wasn’t a big money-maker for bettors. The favorites posted a 12-3 record straight up and an 8-6-1 mark against the spread. They’ll look to continue that ATS improvement as we look ahead in this NFL Week 5 betting preview.

Week 5 begins Thursday night with the Indianapolis Colts at the New England Patriots as a 10-point underdog. The Colts have been a poor pick on the road lately at 2-9 SU and 5-6 ATS in their last 11 games. New England has dominated this matchup, having won seven straight against the Colts, but they’re only 4-3 ATS in that stretch.

NFL Week 5 Betting Preview: Two Undefeated Teams on Board

Both remaining undefeated teams are then in action Sunday with the Los Angeles Rams visiting the Seattle Seahawks, and the Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Rams are a 7.5-point road favorite versus Seattle and they’ve won six straight as a road favorite at 4-2 ATS. However, in their last 13 in Seattle, the Rams are 2-11 SU and 4-9 ATS. The Seahawks have disappointed at home lately at 2-5 ATS in their last seven. But as a home underdog, they’ve won seven straight ATS.

The Chiefs are 3-point home favorites versus Jacksonville. They’ve won four straight SU and ATS, and in their last nine they’re 8-1 SU and ATS. The Jaguars are a solid 5-1 ATS in their last six, and they’re 7-1 ATS in their last eight as a road underdog.

NFL Week 5 Betting Preview: Vikings Underdogs Facing Eagles

The Minnesota Vikings get another tough opponent this week as they visit the Philadelphia Eagles in an NFC Championship Game rematch. Philadelphia crushed Minnesota 38-7 last season as a 3-point underdog and they’re a 3-point favorite in the rematch. In their last nine home games versus the Vikings, the Eagles are 8-1 SU and ATS. Minnesota dropped to 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven following last week’s loss to the Rams.

In the AFC West this weekend, the Los Angeles Chargers face the Oakland Raiders as a 6-point home favorite. The Chargers are 1-3 ATS in their last four and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 as a home favorite. Oakland snapped a seven-game SU losing streak last week, and they’re 3-4-1 ATS in those eight games. On the road, Oakland is 1-8 SU and 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine.

On Sunday night, this week the Dallas Cowboys visit the Houston Texans as a 3.5-point underdog. Dallas has been a huge UNDER play lately at 7-1 UNDER in their last eight and 11-2 UNDER in their last 13. Houston snapped an eight-game ATS losing streak last week. In their last six as a home favorite, they’re 2-4 SU and ATS.

This week’s Monday nighter pits the New Orleans Saints against the Washington Redskins as a 6.5-point home favorite. The Saints are 9-1 SU in their last 10 at home, but only 4-6 ATS. Washington has won six straight ATS versus the Saints. In their last five games in New Orleans, they’re 4-1 SU and 5-0 ATS.
