NFL Week 3 Betting Preview: Odds, Trends, and Top Matchups Analysis

The favorites devoured bettors’ bankrolls in Week 2 of the NFL season, putting up a 8-7-1 record straight up and a 5-11 mark against the spread. Will the losses continue in Week 3? Here are the top matchups to check out in the NFL Week 3 betting preview.

Week 3 gets started Thursday night with the Cleveland Browns hosting the New York Jets as a 3-point favorite. Both teams are coming off losses, the Jets as a favorite and the Browns as an underdog. Cleveland may have lost SU last week, but they covered to post their third straight win ATS. The Jets are 1-5 SU and ATS in their last six. But in this matchup, they’ve won five straight over Cleveland SU and ATS.

On Sunday, NFC South contenders face off when the New Orleans Saints visit the Atlanta Falcons as a 3-point road underdog. The Saints are 1-4 ATS in their last five after losing ATS last week. On the road, the Saints are a lame 0-4 SU and 1-3 ATS in their last four. The Falcons have won their last three home games SU and ATS. Against the Saints at home, they’re 4-2 SU and ATS in their last six.

NFL Week 3 Betting Preview: Large Spread in Bills vs. Vikings

The largest spread in this week’s NFL odds comes when Minnesota hosts Buffalo. Here, the Vikings are a 17-point favorite. On the road, Buffalo is 3-6 SU and 4-5 ATS in their last nine. However, they’re a surprising 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS in their last four versus Minnesota. The Vikings have won seven straight at home with a 5-2 ATS mark. When favored by 14 points or more the Vikings are 5-0 SU and 2-2-1 ATS in their last five.

The two teams from Los Angeles face off this weekend when the Los Angeles Rams host the Los Angeles Chargers as a 7-point favorite. The Rams shut out the Arizona Cardinals 34-0 as an 11-point favorite last week. However, at home, they’re still only 3-5 SU and ATS in their last eight. The Chargers are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games. On the road against the Rams, they’ve lost four straight at 1-3 ATS.

The Philadelphia Eagles welcome Carson Wentz back this week as a 6-point home favorite versus the Indianapolis Colts. The Eagles had a four-game winning streak SU and ATS snapped last week, but they’re still a strong 12-1 SU and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 home games. The Colts upset the Washington Redskins as a 6-point underdog last week, and have been a strong UNDER play lately, at 9-1 UNDER in their last 10.

NFL Week 3 Betting Preview: Patriots Road Favorites at Lions

On Sunday night in the NFL Week 3 betting preview, the New England Patriots look to rebound from an upset loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars when they face the Detroit Lions as a 7-point road favorite. New England is 1-2 SU and ATS in their last three as a road favorite, but going back further they’re 13-2 SU and 11-4 ATS in their last 15. Detroit is only 3-5 SU and ATS in their last eight at home and they’ve lost four straight versus New England at 1-3 ATS.

Week 3 concludes on Monday night with the Pittsburgh Steelers visiting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a 1.5-point road favorite. The Steelers have been one of the worst bets in the league lately, having lost four straight ATS and eight of their last nine. The Buccaneers have covered in five straight games and as a home underdog they’re 5-1 ATS in their last six.
