NFL Betting Lines: Week 9 Odds, Trends, and Top Matchups Preview

Week 9 of the NFL season begins Thursday night with the Buffalo Bills at the New York Jets. The Bills are on a roll having won four of their last five straight up, while going 3-1-1 against the spread. However, the Bills are a lame 4-8-2 ATS in their last 14 road games, and they’re 1-4 SU in their last five as a road favorite. The Jets have lost three straight, but they’re 5-0-1 ATS in their last six and at home they’ve won five in a row ATS.

There are two divisional matchups in the NFC South this week, as the Atlanta Falcons visit the Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers face the New Orleans Saints.

The Panthers are a 2-point favorite, but at home they’re 1-3 SU and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games. Carolina is also 2-6 SU in their last eight games within the division. Atlanta has lost four straight ATS and they’re 2-6 ATS in their last eight. The Falcons have won three in a row versus the Panthers SU and ATS.

The Saints are a 7-point home favorite, and have won five in a row with a 4-1 ATS mark. In their last six at home versus Carolina the Saints are 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS. Tampa Bay have lost their last four and they’re 0-5-1 ATS in their last six. On the road the Buccaneers have dropped five straight with a 1-4 record ATS.

The Philadelphia Eagles take their NFL-best record home this week to host the Denver Broncos as a 7-point favorite. The Eagles have won six straight at 5-1 ATS, but they’ve lost four in a row ATS versus the Broncos. Denver has lost their last three games SU and ATS, and on the road they’ve dropped five in a row SU and ATS.

The only double-digit spread this week is the Indianapolis Colts at the Houston Texans, where Houston is a 13-point favorite. Houston is only 3-3 SU in their last six, but they’re 5-1 ATS. Indianapolis has lost five straight on the road at 1-4 ATS. The OVER could be the way to go for totals bettors here, as Houston has gone OVER in five straight, the Colts are 5-1 OVER in their last six, and the Colts’ last five road games have all gone OVER the total.

The Seattle Seahawks host the Washington Redskins this week as a 7-point favorite. Seattle has won four straight at 3-1 ATS, and at home they’re 11-1 SU and 6-5-1 ATS in their last 12. Washington has lost four straight ATS, and in their last six against Seattle they’re 1-4-1 ATS.

Closing out the week on Monday night the Detroit Lions visit the Green Bay Packers as a 2.5-point road favorite. Detroit has lost three in a row SU and ATS, and they’re a disappointing 2-5 SU and 1-6 ATS in their last seven as a road favorite. Green Bay is 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS in their last eight at home, but as a home underdog they’re 1-4 SU and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five.
