NFL Gambling Odds: AFC Championship Betting Lines Update

Is the AFC the Kansas City Chiefs’ conference to lose? The oddsmakers think so after listing the Chiefs as the current betting favorite to capture the AFC title. On the latest AFC Championship gambling odds, the Chiefs are listed at +170.

Behind quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs have the No. 1 offense in the league. There may still be a few cracks in the Chiefs’ armor, though, as their defense ranks among the worst. The Chiefs are 11-2 on the season with their two losses coming against the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams. Furthermore, they may come up against the Patriots again if they’re going to win the AFC title.

Despite their impressive offense and record, the Chiefs may show who they really are this week against their AFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers are currently only one game back of the Chiefs in the division. With an upset win this week, they could then sneak past them and steal the division crown.

AFC Championship Gambling Odds: Patriots, Chargers Follow Chiefs

Following the Chiefs on the AFC Championship futures are the Patriots at +240 and the Chargers at +430 on those NFL gambling odds.

The Patriots remain among the contenders, despite a 2-2 record in their last four games. This includes last week’s upset loss to the Miami Dolphins. What may end up being the Patriots’ downfall this season is potentially not having home-field advantage in the playoffs. All four of New England’s losses this season have come on the road. In the playoffs, they’ve also lost three straight road games and eight of their last 11.

The Chargers, at 10-3, may be the best team in football that hardly anyone is talking about. They could change that if they can upset the Chiefs this week. Even after facing the Chiefs, the Chargers don’t have an easy road through the rest of the regular season. They also face the Baltimore Ravens, who are currently a wild-card team, and the Denver Broncos, who they lost to in Week 11.

AFC Championship Gambling Odds: Texans, Steelers Behind Favorites

The only other teams that oddsmakers on the NFL gambling lines are even giving a legitimate shot at the AFC title are the Houston Texans and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both are at +850 on the AFC Championship futures.

The Texans had their nine-game winning streak snapped last week as they continue to have trouble against teams with winning records. In game against teams currently over .500 this season, the Texans are 4-3. Luckily for the Texans, their remaining three games are all against teams under .500 and are a combined 14-25 on the season.

The Steelers are in freefall right now, having lost three straight after a shocking loss to the Oakland Raiders. It doesn’t get any easier for the Steelers, either. They face New England this week followed by a road game against the Saints. At 7-6-1 on the season, the Steelers could be in danger of missing the playoffs altogether if their losing streak continues.
