Monday Night Football: Giants vs. Rams Picks and Preview

Matchup Preview

The Rams get to come home, and they could not need it more. Los Angeles flew to Melbourne for the season opener and came back with a 27-7 loss to the 49ers, a game in which Matthew Stafford managed just 155 yards, no touchdowns and a pick — the fewest points a Rams team has scored in any of his 75 starts. Now the reigning MVP hosts a Giants team that walked into Week 2 at 1-0 and playing with house money.

New York was the surprise of the opening weekend, controlling the ball for more than 36 minutes in a 28-20 win over Dallas. Jaxson Dart was ruthless efficient (23-of-29, 230 yards, 3 TDs, plus 54 rushing yards), Cam Skattebo ran for 81 and a score, and Malik Nabers looked healthy in his return from last year's knee injury. This is a run-first, clock-control offense that keeps its own defense fresh and the opposing offense on the sideline — exactly the recipe to frustrate a Rams team still searching for rhythm.

The health of Puka Nacua is the swing factor. He's questionable with a hip/groin issue and reportedly trending the wrong way, and backup Jordan Whittington is doubtful. If Nacua is out or limited, Stafford is leaning on Davante Adams and a thin supporting cast against a Giants secondary that, while banged up (Paulson Adebo out, Deonte Banks questionable), may not get punished the way you'd expect — Los Angeles ran heavy-personnel, run-first looks in Week 1 that don't attack thin cornerback rooms. That points toward a slower, lower-scoring game than the market's history suggests.

SoFi's fixed roof takes weather out of the equation, so this comes down to whether the Rams can rediscover their offense in a hurry. They're big home favorites off a bad loss — a classic bounce-back spot on paper — but the Giants are the more confident team right now, and the number is sitting right on a key digit.

The Picks

1. Giants +6.5 (-103 at Lucky Rebel)
This is the cleanest spot on the board. The Giants take +6.5 across the key number of 7, and Lucky Rebel offers the best juice at -103. New York's ball-control identity (36:40 time of possession in Week 1) is built to keep games close and low-event, and a Rams offense that scored seven points last week has to prove it can pull away before you lay a touchdown. Take the points and the cushion.

2. Under 47.5 (-110 at Bovada)
Both confirmed books hold this at 47.5, and Bovada gives you the standard -110. A questionable Nacua and doubtful Whittington gut the Rams' passing depth, and Los Angeles' heavy-TE, run-first tendencies plus New York's grind-it-out offense both bleed clock. Two slow-tempo game plans and a shaky Rams attack make the under the play.

3. Giants Moneyline +260 (at Bovada)
For a smaller-stakes swing, the outright dog price is generous. Bovada and Lucky Rebel both post +260, and at that number you only need the upset to hit once in roughly every 3.6 tries to profit. Given the Giants' form, their clock control, and a Rams team that could be without its No. 1 receiver, an outright New York win is very live.

Best Bet

Giants +6.5 at Lucky Rebel (-103) is the strongest play — you're getting a red-hot, clock-controlling team across the key number of 7 against a Rams offense that hasn't shown it can score, with Nacua's status in doubt.
