Divisional Round Betting Odds Preview: Cowboys vs Rams

BD

January 9, 2019

Can the Dallas Cowboys post their first playoff road win since 1993 when they face the Los Angeles Rams Saturday night?

They have lost six straight as a playoff road team, but have won outright the past four times overall when they were road dogs of 7 or more points! That is a huge angle in Divisional Round betting this weekend.

Can the Cowboys Cover the Divisional Round betting spread?

The Cowboys will face the Rams as a 7-point road underdog at Bovada Sportsbook. Last week Dallas edged the Seattle Seahawks 24-22 as a 2.5-point home favorite. Even with that win, Dallas is still only 3-9 straight up and against the spread in their last 12 playoff games.

On the road in the playoffs Dallas has lost seven straight at 2-5 ATS and as a playoff underdog they’ve dropped six in a row at 2-4 ATS. Oddly enough, when listed as an underdog the Cowboys are 5-1 SU in their last six and 6-1 ATS in their last seven.

If they can establish the running game with Zeke Elliott and keep the Rams offenses off the field, this could be a low-scoring game where the Cowboys can cover or win outright.

Can the Rams Cover the Divisional Round betting Spread?

The Rams begin their playoff run at home where they were 7-1 SU and 3-3-2 ATS this season. It was a bumpy road for Rams bettors down the stretch as they were 3-5-1 ATS in their last nine games. Los Angeles was favored in every game this season, going 13-3 SU and 7-7-2 ATS.

In the postseason, the Rams are a disappointing 1-4 SU and ATS in their last five, but a lot of that is ancient history as the Rams just recently returned to playoff form. Being listed as a favorite in the postseason hasn’t meant much to the Rams either, as they’ve dropped three straight SU and their last four ATS. In their last eight as a playoff favorite, the Rams are 1-6-1 ATS.

The Cowboys and Rams last met up last season and Los Angeles won 35-30 as a 5-point road underdog. Despite that loss Dallas has had the upper hand in this matchup at 4-2 SU and ATS in their last six versus the Rams. On the road against the Rams, the Cowboys are 4-1 SU and ATS in their last five.
