Unbeaten Panthers Get Perfect NFL Season Betting Odds

Can the Carolina Panthers get through the entire NFL regular season schedule without getting tagged with a loss? Can the Panthers complete a true perfect season and cap off a 19-0 campaign with a victory in Super Bowl 50? The Yes side on those prop wagers are the underdogs right now at the sportsbooks.

With the New England Patriots having lost to the Denver Broncos last week the Panthers are now the only undefeated team left in the league at 11-0. Carolina puts that mark on the line on Sunday afternoon as they face the Saints in New Orleans as heavy 7-point road favorites.

The Panthers opened the season with a 20-9 win at Jacksonville, then beat both Houston and New Orleans at home before heading back out on the road to defeat Tampa Bay and Seattle – with the Seahawks having been listed as 7-point home favorites in that matchup.

Carolina then rattled off home wins over Philadelphia, Indianapolis, and Green Bay before beating the Titans in Tennessee. A 9-0 Panthers team improved to 10-0 with a 44-16 rout of Washington at home two weeks ago, and they then cruised past the Cowboys in Arlington 33-14 last week.

And after facing New Orleans in their 12th game of the season on Sunday the Panthers will host Atlanta before playing road games at the Giants and Falcons and then getting a visit from the Buccaneers in their regular-season finale in Week 17.

New Orleans is 4-7 on the season and riding a three-game losing streak, while Atlanta is 6-5 but has lost four games in a row. The Giants are just 5-6 heading into Week 12 of the season, while the Buccaneers are 5-6 as well so far this year.

Even with that schedule, however, the sportsbooks still have the Panthers listed at just +400 on the odds to finish the regular season at 16-0, compared to a -600 betting line on them stumbling at least once over their last five outings.

As well, Carolina sits at +1000 on the odds to finish with a perfect 19-0 record and a Super Bowl title. The Panthers are at -2500 on the No side of that prop wager at the sportsbooks.

The only team in NFL history to go 16-0 during the regular season was the 2007 New England Patriots, who made it all the way to Super Bowl XLII undefeated before getting upset by the New York Giants to settle for an overall 18-1 mark.

The 1972 Miami Dolphins went 14-0 during the regular season when the league played a 14-game schedule, then won all three of their playoff games to finish 17-0 and Super Bowl VII champions.

Kickoff for the Panthers at Saints matchup on Sunday afternoon is set for 4:25pm at the Superdome. Carolina has picked up the win in five of its last seven games against New Orleans dating back to 2012, covering the spread on the NFL betting lines in four of those contests.
