NFL Week 4 Betting Picks

Favorites regained the upper hand in Week 3 of the National Football League season, going 9-7 ATS. But five underdogs won outright last week, four on the road. Six teams enjoy byes in Week 4, including Arizona, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Denver, Seattle and St. Louis. Here’s a look at some of the key matchups in Week 4.

New York Giants @ Washington Redskins

Game Line: Washington -3.5 | OU 45.5

After QB Robert Griffin III went down in Week 1 with an ankle injury, it looked like the Redskins were destined to be one of the weakest NFL betting picks of the year. Enter Kirk Cousins, who has quickly proven he can be an NFL starter, throwing for 677 yards and five TDs in the last two games.

Led by Cousins, the Skins held their own against undefeated Philadelphia last week, holding the Eagles to just 54 yards rushing in a 37-34 loss.

Conversely, it was Rashad Jennings’ 176 yards on the ground that led New York to their first victory of the season over Houston last week.

The Giants hold the edge head-to-head against Washington, winning nine of their last 12 meetings SU. But if Cousins continues to run an effective aerial campaign and the Redskins’ defense can stifle the run and contain an inconsistent Eli Manning, Washington will be poised to win and cover.

Free Pick: Take Washington and give the points. Washington 27-19

Miami Dolphins @ Oakland Raiders

Game Line: Miami -4 | OU 41

The 0-3 Raiders will take the field at London’s Wembley Stadium as 4-point underdogs in NFL online betting. While Oakland are 0-9 SU in their last nine, they have shown defensive responsibility, resulting in a 2-1 ATS start to the season.

The 1-2 Dolphins are winless since their 33-20 upset of New England in Week 1, losing badly, SU and ATS, to Buffalo and Kansas City. Despite their struggles, the Dolphins hold the upper hand in NFL betting odds for a second straight week.

With neither squad demonstrating much offensive potential, the UNDER could have the edge in the game. A low-scoring affair could benefit Oakland, who enter the game with the league’s fourth-best pass defense versus Miami’s 30th-place passing game.

Free Pick: Take Oakland and the points. Oakland 19-13

Tennessee Titans @ Indianapolis Colts

Game Line: Indianapolis -7 | OU 45.5

The 2-1 Indianapolis Colts finally picked up their first win last week, a 44-17 pummelling of the Jacksonville Jaguars, as 6-point favorites on the NFL betting lines.

Conversely, the 1-2 Titans’ troubles appear to be deepening since a 26-10 upset win over Kansas City in Week 1. Tennessee’s offense has been largely ineffective in the last two weeks, producing just 17 points combined. QB Jake Locker accumulated over 400 passing yards in those two games, but his four interceptions against just one TD are cause for concern.

The Titans have limited opposing QBs to just 170 passing yards per game so far, but it will take everything they have to contain Colts QB Andrew Luck, who looked incredibly poised while throwing four TDs against the Jags last week.

Indy is 5-0 SU and ATS in their last five against Tennessee, a trend that is likely to continue on Sunday

Free Pick: Take Indianapolis and give the points. Indianapolis 33-15

Jacksonville Jaguars @ San Diego Chargers

Game Line: San Diego -13.5 | OU 47

The 2-1 San Diego Chargers are pegged as 13.5-point favorites in NFL online betting in a battle between two teams heading in markedly different directions.

The Chargers looked outstanding in wins over Seattle and Buffalo, and with a solid 8-3 record SU in their last 11, 9-2 ATS, it is no surprise that the Bolts have surged to 14/1 in NFL betting odds to win Super Bowl XLIX.

The 0-3 Jags are dead last in most defensive statistical categories, near the bottom of the pack in offensive stats, and have not held a lead since jumping out to a 17-0 halftime lead over Philadelphia in Week 1.

The Jags picked up just two first downs in enemy territory in their loss to Washington and only four against the Colts, with three coming late when the game was already out of reach.

Against a Chargers team that has surrendered just 16 points per game, there is little to feel good about for Jaguars fans ahead of Sunday’s game.

Free Pick: Take San Diego and give the points. San Diego 33-12

Philadelphia Eagles @ San Francisco 49ers

Game Line: San Francisco -5 | OU 50.5

The 3-0 Eagles are just one of three squads still undefeated after three weeks. With QB Nick Foles showing MVP potential, Philly owns the NFL’s second-best offense and have emerged as a 10/1 Super Bowl favorite in NFL online betting.

The 1-2 Niners have looked ordinary in losses to Arizona and Chicago, with QB Colin Kaepernick taking plenty of heat for his ordinary play, including a three-interception performance in a 28-20 loss to the Bears.

The 49ers will have their hands full against an Eagles team that has been outstanding on the road, 7-2 SU and 6-3 ATS in their last nine as visitors. Philly has also dominated the Niners in recent head-to-head action, 5-1 SU and ATS in their last six.

While San Francisco has had some success against the rush this season, they have yet to encounter an offense as potent as Philadelphia’s.

But with the 49ers facing the spectre of their season slipping away early, this could be the game to watch this weekend.

Free Pick: Take Philadelphia and the points. San Francisco 28-26

New Orleans Saints @ Dallas Cowboys

Game Line: New Orleans -3 | OU 52

The New Orleans Saints are usually one of the top NFL betting picks each Sunday. But with a pair of losses, SU and ATS, to Atlanta and Cleveland to start their season, the Saints have been a massive NFL online betting disappointment this year.

The 1-2 Saints finally got on track with a 20-9 home win over Minnesota in Week 3, and will be desperate to take home a victory against Dallas, ahead of tough upcoming games against Detroit, Green Bay, Carolina and Cincinnati.

While QB Drew Brees has been solid, with 863 yards and five TDs through Week 3, the Saints are a dismal 29th overall against the pass. Fortunately, they are up against the 2-1 Cowboys and QB Tony Romo, who has been unimpressive in the early going, throwing four picks against four TDs.

New Orleans are 8-1 SU in their last nine against Dallas, 4-1 SU in their last five visits to Big D. While Dallas staged an impressive comeback against the lowly St. Louis Rams a week ago, they are unlikely to be able to do the same if they fall behind early against Brees and the Saints

Free Pick: Take New Orleans and give the points. New Orleans 28-17
