Chiefs Underdogs as Books Post NFL Playoff Odds

The Kansas City Chiefs won 11 games and handily make the playoffs in the AFC last season, but after stumbling down the stretch and blowing a lead in their Wild Card matchup against the Indianapolis Colts the oddsmakers at the sportsbooks don’t have them as anything close to a lock on their NFL betting lines to return to the playoffs this season.

In fact, of the dozen teams that made the playoffs in the NFL last season the Chiefs have the worst odds to return to the postseason this year, sitting at +275 on those NFL online betting props at the sportsbooks – and at -350 to regress this year and not advance to the playoffs.

Of those 12 teams that made the playoffs last season a total of four are underdog NFL betting picks at the sportsbooks to get to the postseason this year, with the San Diego Chargers at +225, the Carolina Panthers at +200, and the Cincinnati Bengals at +120. San Diego finished third in the AFC West last season at 9-7 but made the playoffs as a Wild Card team, while Cincinnati won the AFC North with an 11-5 mark, and Carolina won the NFC South at 12-4.

Meanwhile, the other eight teams that made the playoffs last season are all favored to get back to the postseason this year – and it doesn’t take NFL betting tips to know that the New England Patriots are at the head of that list. The Patriots own the AFC East, winning that division title last year with a 12-4 record that put them well ahead of the 8-8 Miami Dolphins and New York Jets. The Patriots have the top NFL betting odds to make the playoffs at -500.

The Denver Broncos, who went 13-3 last season but would prefer to forget their Super Bowl trouncing, are just behind the Patriots at -450 on the odds to make the playoffs at the sportsbooks, with the defending-champion Seattle Seahawks at -325, and the San Francisco 49ers at -250. Just one game separated the Seahawks and the Niners in the NFC West standings last season, with Seattle going 13-3 and San Francisco posting a mark of 12-4.

As for last year’s other four playoff teams, the Green Bay Packers are at -225 to make the postseason this year, with the Indianapolis Colts at -215, the New Orleans Saints at -180, and the Philadelphia Eagles at -150. The Detroit Lions missed the playoffs at 7-9 last season, and sit at +175 on those NFL online betting odds, with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Chicago Bears, and Baltimore Ravens at +120, +145, and +155 – each of those teams is coming off an 8-8 year. The Dallas Cowboys, who also went 8-8 last season, are set back at just +225 odds.

The two big longshots on those NFL betting lines are the Oakland Raiders and the Jacksonville Jaguars, with Oakland at +800 to make the playoffs and Jacksonville at +900 to advance to the postseason. Both the Raiders and the Jaguars won just four games last year.
